Nailin’ It – Pink and “Black” Heart Moon’s

For my latest nail design I decided to do something very, very different to my usual. I was so long overdue for a nail refill  I kept my Halloween nails for over a month and they were getting pretty gross. I also knew I had to have something that tied in with what I’ll be wearing to my 30th birthday party in two weeks time as I’d have no time to get them done again, and I usually leave 3 weeks between refills anyway.

I was perusing the WAH Nails instagram (how did I not know they had one way sooner?) and was considering getting alternating pink and black half moon’s. But then I discovered their “heart moon” design and since my party will be Mad Hatter themed, it seemed perfect!

Only problem is, the nail salon I go to is a tiny little one in a particularly rough suburb just on the edge of Brisbane/Ipswich which I go to because they’re so darn cheap ($25 for a refill and they often give us free nail art). It took a lot of negotiating to get one of the girls to give the design a go. She tried painting them on as-is but that was getting too tricky so she just painted my nails and then used a special brush with nail polish remover and cut out the heart shape up the top.

They’re far from perfect but I really like the design. I also had to go back to rounded nails to suit the design which I’m finding kind of hard to adjust to. I love the look of the big, long square (with rounded edge) nails because they look so… fake? I just hate how natural the rounded nail look is, I am so not a “natural” looking gal!

Oh! They look great! Sometimes I want to go and get acrylics so I can have the really pointed talon like nails, I think they look crazy yet amazing!

I couldn’t cope without nails. People always ask how I deal with my super long nails and I really just adapt, it’s not like I stop doing things because of them! Have you ever given acrylics a go?

I have yes, I used to get acrylics often as I was a chronic nail biter, but since I don’t anymore I grow my own, which sometimes grow to rather long lengths. Once I finish unpacking, which I am nowhere near, but in the future sometimes, I want to get the pointy acrylics, just cause I don’t think my nails would be touch enough to stand up to the cut without help.
I find it weird to be without nails, I kept them trimmed short with the move cause I broke a few and it just felt, well, wrong, un natural.
