I have the same problem, though it's getting better with the "fake it till you make it" approach! But yeah, people always think I'm either boring, quiet, shy, rude, stuck-up ect. until I'm comfotable enough around them to let my real personality out. Then they think I'm a bit nuts but they like me :) Waitressing and bar-tending helped a lot, giving me the confidence to make conversation if I have to!
